We, Animals — Cycle II

Cosmos & Myth

2025

“We enter the world of archetypal frameworks of contemporary society.”

Katarina Nikolić — art critic

The Series

In the second cycle, the studio became a stage for something older than photography — myth. Animals ceased to be simply animals. They became archetypes: roles humanity has assigned to other species for millennia.

At the center stands Orpheus — not as a figure from antiquity, but as a permanent human condition. The one who descends into darkness for the sake of beauty. Who turns back because love is stronger than reason. Who loses, and creates from loss.

Twelve photographs. Twelve states of being. The horse as freedom, the flamingo as devotion, the bear as protection, the lion as authority — each image a myth we have always known but rarely named.

Cosmos & Myth

In Cosmos & Myth, the lion carries the archetype of the Father: the one who holds space so others may exist within it. Authority not as dominance, but as presence. Protection not as shield, but as witness.

“A king is not afraid to walk alone.”

Orpheus did not die. He was transformed.

In every mythology, the horse carries what words cannot — the weight of the journey, the refusal to stop. In Cosmos & Myth, the horse is Orpheus: the one who descends, who turns back, who loses everything and still creates.

This is not a symbol. It is a state of being most of us have lived but never named.

“This kind of social context of the photographs highlights the human need for acceptance through various roles in society.”

Katarina Nikolić — art critic

“And the Latin word anima (soul) has almost the same root as animal.”

Mirjana Ognjanović — essayist
